Annotated high-resolution satellite imagery for building damage assessment

xBD Dataset

Using imagery from Maxar's Open Data Program, we annotated polygons and damage scores for each building, giving particular attention to on-the-ground changes between pre-disaster and post-disaster imagery. With over 850,000 building polygons from six different types of natural disaster around the world, covering a total area of over 45,000 square kilometers, the xBD dataset is one of the largest and highest quality public datasets of annotated high-resolution satellite imagery. We engaged expert analysts to review the annotations for accuracy and utility for the specific task of automated building localization and damage assessment, making the xBD dataset the premier source of high-quality labeled imagery. It is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-Sharealike 4.0 International (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0) license.Buildings around the world are as diverse as the conditions they face. The xBD dataset includes pre- and post-disaster imagery for six different types of disaster and fifteen countries.
